The 2024 Hong Kong International Food and Tea Fair will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from August 15 to 19. The exhibition is well-known in the industry and provides a golden opportunity for food and beverage suppliers to open new businesses and enhance brand awareness. The Hong Kong International Food & Tea Fair is held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in August every year. The exhibition also held a food expo, a beauty and health life expo, and an appliance·home·expo. The five exhibitions brought together more than 1,840 exhibitors, bringing global food, famous teas and fashionable products to industry buyers and the public, providing a one-stop procurement and shopping experience.

Food Trade Expo: Expanding Business Opportunities

The first two days of the Food Trade Expo are open to industry buyers, and on August 17, it will be open to the public and trade buyers. This year, the Expo welcomes exhibitors from 26 countries and regions, and continues to have 20 national and regional pavilions, including neighboring Japan and South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand in the ASEAN region, as far as Mexico and Poland, and pavilions from many provinces in mainland China such as Fujian, Guizhou, Hunan, Sichuan, Zhejiang, etc., to showcase new food, service and technology trends from various places.

In addition to the popular pre-prepared dishes and authentic delicacies in recent years, the focus exhibition area "Food Science and Technology" also brings alternative foods and future foods that the industry is concerned about to professional buyers, such as vegan poached eggs, personalized 3D foods and cooking machines from local exhibitors, as well as lactose-free black sesame paste from Singapore that can be used as a substitute for chocolate sauce, low-glycemic index functional flour from the Thai pavilion, and near-zero-calorie protein-based instant white rice, etc.

Two food technology seminars will be held during the exhibition. The Hong Kong Food Professional Association, the Hong Kong Food Innovation and Technology Center, the Department of Food Science and Nutrition of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and food technology start-ups will jointly discuss the development of food innovation technology. Topics covered include new food packaging technology and refrigeration technology, and analysis of their applications in pre-prepared food production. In addition, innovative scientific research results and food recipes will be shared, such as analyzing personal dietary needs through AI, using 3D food printing technology and making special meals, etc.

Hong Kong International Tea Fair: Taste the World's Famous Teas and Experience the Feast of Tea Fragrance

The International Tea Fair is also open to industry buyers on the first two days, and the public and trade buyers are welcome to participate on August 17. The exhibition will have four regional pavilions, including Sri Lanka, Fujian, Hunan, and the Hong Kong and Kowloon Tea Merchants Association Pavilion. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste local organic tea from Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, Wuyi rock tea from Fujian, purple tea from Kenya, and Hadong black tea from South Korea, as well as discover special tea sets.

This year's conference will hold the first "Hong Kong International Tea Culture Forum" with the China Tea Culture International Exchange Association, with the theme of "One Leaf Harmony, Tea and the World", inviting international tea culture experts and scholars from mainland China, Malaysia, and Australia to discuss the history, inheritance and contemporary development of tea culture. The Hong Kong Tea Ceremony Association will hold the "First International Tea Ceremony Space Creative Competition 2024" during the tea fair, aiming to promote tea ceremony culture. Participants will design tea ceremony spaces, and the shortlisted designs will be displayed during the tea fair. The public can also vote for their favorite tea ceremony. Another highlight event of the tea fair, the "Hong Kong International Tea Fair Famous Tea Competition", will be selected by professional tea critics through blind tasting to select the champion, runner-up, third place, "taste" and "aroma" awards in six tea categories. On the morning of August 17, the public day, there will be free tasting of award-winning teas to share the charm of famous teas with the public. Other activities include the "International and Greater Bay Area Golden Tea King Competition (Hong Kong-style Milk Tea) Hong Kong Finals", lectures, tea time and tea art performances.

In terms of attracting buyers from the industry, it is expected that 110 buyer groups from 26 countries and regions, with a total of 6,000 buyers, will be organized to purchase on site. This year's Food Trade Expo and Hong Kong International Tea Fair will continue to adopt the integrated exhibition model EXHIBITION+, allowing global food and tea buyers to negotiate simultaneously through physical exhibitions and online platforms. Exhibitors and buyers can conduct online negotiations through the "Click2Match" intelligent matching platform from August 8 to 24 to explore more business opportunities.
